They Will Be Coming for Us by Kim Catanzarite introduces the Jovian Duology series and a rollicking adventure for fans of Sci-Fi and well-plotted thrillers. Svetlana Peterman might not be the love-struck kind of girl nor one who easily develops crushes on boys and men. But she is certain of one thing: she wants a simple, peaceful life with a family of her own.

When she falls for Andrew Jovian, a young astronomer working for his parents' aerospace company, she believes her dreams have come true. Her husband's family seems mysterious in a spooky kind of way, anxious about her getting a baby and obsessed with the night sky. Andrew's uncle is another disturbing character who seems to know Svetlana's thoughts. Svetlana eventually gets pregnant, but her life seems upended when she discovers that she is married into a family with a terrible secret, one that does not only threaten her life but that can change humanity in unexpected ways.

This is a well-crafted tale for readers who enjoy conspiracy, a story with strong scientific themes and a vividly drawn setting in a town in Pennsylvania. Kim Catanzarite writes with confidence and in prose that is crisp and delectable to read. Her characters are sophisticated and it is interesting to follow the heroine as she struggles to fit into a family in which social values seem to fade every day. Svetlana's inner world is gorgeously painted and the first-person narrative voice not only absorbs readers but allows the tension in her world to rub off on them. They Will Be Coming for Us is a balanced and deftly written novel with a strong plot, an intriguing portrait of a wealthy family, and a phenomenal conflict. There couldn’t be a better opening for this series and readers will want to follow Svetlana into the next book.
