In this third entry into the fantasy series, El Holly continues the story of Evelyn ''Eevee'' Acker. In the previous installment, Eevee set out to save her parents, full of questions that needed answers. She succeeds in reuniting with her father; however, the Unseelie King Nightglade turns her mother into stone. Now, Eevee and her birthfather, Aspen, are on the run. She doesn't know for how long. While trouble brews in the Unseelie Court, the clock is ticking and the Unseelie King Nightglade grows even more desperate as he might lose the crown if he does not find a Queen in ten new moons. If the Unseelie and Seelie courts are upended, it will be an unprecedented event that will usher in an era of chaos and darkness. Elfaeme is an unavoidable place for Eevee as it holds the keys to her destiny, but she can lose everything as well.

Again, another mesmerizing narrative with an unforgettable heroine. El Holly continues to explore the complexities of the world of the fae while creating fragile threads that bind the world of humans and the fae. The narrative is pulled forward by the intelligently crafted conflict. Eevee's quest for answers and her fascination for Elfaeme introduce strong plot points. Her relationship with her birth father is cleverly examined and it will be natural for readers to find them awkward, experiencing difficult moments because they have never had any time to bond. The tension in this entry into the series builds up fast and El Holly never ceases to surprise readers with plot twists and details that make the story an enjoyable one. Fate of the Fae features a stunningly imagined and expertly accomplished plot, memorable characters, and sparkling prose through every page.
