A Twist of Fae by El Holly is the second book in the spellbinding fantasy series, Finding Fae, a mix of adventure and unexpected twists in a world that lacks no surprises for readers. In the opening book, Evelyn “Eevee” Acker discovers that she is not purely human. A short note from her fae parents sends her on a journey to unravel her roots. In this second installment, Eevee already knows where her real parents are. However, it is not the kind of place to just walk in and see them. They are captive, and to meet them, Eevee must first rescue them. She will be risking not only her life but the lives of those she loves. Will she abandon the comfort of her home in Duluth for a dangerous adventure into the fae realm?

Eevee is a lovable protagonist, a character who makes a discovery that sets her life on an unpredictable course, colliding with danger at every turn. She enjoys the support of her best friends — Quince, Cam, and Maggie — and Holly excels at exploring the details of their relationship. El Holly's gift for character shines through this second book in the narrative and I loved the way she builds Eevee, a young girl torn between two worlds, drawn by two loyalties, and struggling to establish the balance between what she knows and the unknown. Themes of adoption, adventure, courage, and magic are expertly developed in this book. There is an addictive simplicity in prose that augments the beauty of the narrative and Eevee's voice, echoed brilliantly through the first-person narrative tastes like drippings of the honeycomb. You'll find it irresistible. The worldbuilding is wonderfully accomplished and it will be interesting navigating Elfaeme and getting acquainted with the fae culture and laws. The unpredictability in the plot in A Twist of Fae pulled me through the pages.
