Razor’s internal conflict revolves around his self-worth and the fear of being unworthy of Eve’s affection, compounded by his PTSD and recent struggles with depression. The setting shifts from the idyllic Virginia beachside golf courses and lively navy bar scenes to Razor’s rural Texas home, perfectly translating his desire for simplicity and healing. The narrative explores conflicts beyond personal struggles, including Razor’s guilt over fallen comrades and his apprehension about opening his heart. Characters are vividly drawn—Razor’s imposing yet tender persona contrasts with Eve’s confident independence.
