Never Say Goodbye: A
Second Chance Romance (Never Series) by Sabreena Lowe is a compelling
narrative, a romance with lovable characters and a clever plot. Alaina Dexter
is an orphan and it has been three years since he left her. He has not also
been present in the life of his two-year-old daughter. Now she is to have a
face-to-face interview with Christian Riley, the defensive player for New
England Patriots. As for Christian Riley, he is worked-up about the thought of
an interview with the love of his life and the woman he abandoned, believing
that it was a way to keep her safe. However, what awaits him is not just an
interview — there is Alaina and Demi. This time, what will it take to have them
both in his life?
The story is told from the points of view of the two key
protagonists and in a gripping first person narrative voice. The writing is
gorgeous — crisp. Engaging dialogues litter the narrative and they sustain the
unfolding drama. Readers will love Alaina and Christian, two characters with
strong backgrounds. Christian has not had the best relationship with his father
and his fear is that of not living up to expectations for Alaina and Demi. The
story starts with a strong hook and readers will be emotionally invested in the
characters and the well-crafted scenes. Sabreena has the extraordinary ability
to write about human emotion with clarity and I particularly enjoyed how this
author captures the jealousy of Christian in the writing. There is a lot to
enjoy in Never Say Goodbye: A Second
Chance Romance (Never Series) — the beguiling writing, the well-crafted
plot, and the finely designed conflict.
