In 1906, Charles Henry Warren is unexpectedly felled by Typhoid. Soon, his family is fighting for their lives against the deadly disease. The Warren’s cook, Mary Mallon, appears to have avoided contracting the dreaded disease. However, another family is soon affected by the virus and the commonality is Mary. She is a carrier of the disease and authorities quarantine her. Her danger to society is seemingly contained. In the present day, Joel and Codi are two FBI agents operating out of the Special Projects division. They handle cold cases and have been asked to look into a corpse theft out of New York. Meanwhile, Billionaire Pullin Ikaika is consumed with the development of a vaccine and is often reckless in his pursuit. His research on Typhoid may exceed ethical and moral boundaries, if it doesn’t trigger a pandemic.
Time 2 Die is a medical mystery thriller that doesn’t pull any punches in its ability to entertain and grab the reader’s attention. The depth of the narrative comes not solely from the case that Joel and Codi are investigating, but also from the work that the shady billionaire Ikaika is funding. Codi Sanders is the heroine possessing a steely resolve which makes her an enemy to many. The subject of medical research and the lengths some are willing to go to achieve a breakthrough are prescient and terrifying. Author Brent Ladd excels in writing a pulsating thriller that combines a detective story with the horrific specter of a global pandemic. Ladd’s excellent and intriguing book will elicit comparisons to predecessors such as The Hot Zone and The End of October. With intriguing and fully developed characters, a clever plot, and fine writing, Time 2 Die becomes a winner.

There is a particular kind of silence that falls in the early hours — not the absence of sound, but the quiet rearrangement of the world before it begins again. A kettle sighs. The light finds its way through the window in thin, precise strokes. In that stilln...
