The year is 1943 and Europe has been embroiled in a blood-soaked war for over three years. The brazen assassination of French Admiral Darlan in Algiers had put both Allied and Axis forces on alert. General Dwight Eisenhower vowed to resign if the killing bore the fingerprints of either US or British intelligence. Connor Thorn has recently been cashiered by the OSS for a “failed” mission while his wife Emily looks to be on the outs with MI6. The pair are approached with a job that could put them back in the good graces of their respective former employers. Rumors pervade of evidence hidden that pertains to the Darlan job and the conspirators behind it. Connor and Emily are on a deadline to find it but must contend with Nazi spies and other sinister forces seeking the cache.

Trust No One opens with an adrenalin-packed flourish and continues in a similarly tense fashion throughout. The characters featured in this World War II espionage thriller are headlined by Connor and Emily Thorn. Connor is a solid agent, but his obstinacy could lead to his undoing. Emily is an equally capable intelligence asset who may follow Connor anywhere, but not without throwing her two cents in. Their enemies run the gamut from the Abwehr, SS, to Vichy French collaborators. The author brilliantly utilizes the infamous rubout of the controversial Admiral as the plot’s impetus, but it's the war engulfing the protagonists and antagonists that dictates often desperate actions. This book functions well on multiple levels and will attract readers who yearn for an enthralling yarn. It is hugely immersive.
