The Marvelous Misfits of Westminster by Andrea Hahnfeld is an enthralling tale that will instantly arrest the attention of dog lovers and readers who enjoy intelligently plotted stories and compelling characters. Irving is a dog and a shadow hunter. Irving is on one of his most daring missions yet, but to accomplish this mission, he must win the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Clement was once a reputable dog show judge, but he fell from grace. His wife, Edith has left him, too. But when he is asked at the last minute to substitute a judge at the Kennel Club Dog Show, he is unsure of what to make of the invitation. But things get even more complicated when he learns that his wife, Edith, is about to be killed by a shadow and that he has the means to save her. It is simple: he must help Irving to become the winner of the show.

Andrea Hahnfeld has crafted a heartwarming tale with wonderful characters, melding different genres and expertly using anthropomorphism to transform a hideous mongrel dog into a character that readers will root for. The plot is cunningly written, twisty, and filled with unexpectedly delightful moments. The scenes are focused and from the moment the reader is introduced to the premise, their curiosity grows from page to page as they follow the characters through trying events. There is a huge dose of suspense as readers are left to wonder about what will happen to Edith and if Clement can face the challenge in front of him. The Marvelous Misfits of Westminster is at times tender and insightful, a tale that will awaken the heart and lift the spirit of the reader. This is a novel with an appeal to readers of all ages and one that dog lovers will adore. Hahnfeld’s writing is gorgeous, the descriptions vivid and littered with interesting details. While it is a tale with a protagonist that is a dog, it doesn’t fail to present the realism and the humanity that readers look for in their favorite stories. It is an immersive tale of adventure, of love, loss, and one man’s journey towards redemption; it is emotionally rich and captivating.
