We Are All Together
by Richard Fulco follows a young character’s incredible journey of
self-discovery against the backdrop of the dazzling rock n' roll culture in the
late 60s. Twenty-one-year-old guitarist Stephen Cane has just returned home to
his mother after a devastating failure with the band on which he has built his
dreams. Stephen is determined to pursue his career in music, so he moves to New
York where he reconnects with his former friend and bandmate, Dylan John, an
up-and-coming psychedelic rock star whose band is already attracting a lot of
attention. When Dylan leaves the band to become a civil rights activist,
Stephen replaces him. With fame and success, Stephen's character is tested in
ways he never imagined. Follow him as he blunders, chooses poorly in love, and
struggles with questions on racism and loyalty.
Richard Fulco has crafted a story with a historical
background that comes across as a character in its own rights, a nation faced
with political tension. The author writes brilliantly about themes of loyalty,
music, family, love, and racism, successfully capturing a vivid portrait of the
1960s. At the heart of this mesmerizing tale is the protagonist's search for
identity. While the nation is in chaos, there is internal turmoil as the
protagonist deals with anxious moments and self-doubt. Stephen is a dropout as
a sophomore and when readers meet him, they are instantly captivated by his
longing for acceptance and to have his talent recognized. His inner world is
vividly drawn and complex — a portrait that will dazzle readers. He is so
genuinely flawed, so human it will be hard for readers to not like him. We Are All Together features some of the
wonderful elements readers appreciate in great writing — crisp prose,
elaborately developed characters, a fascinating sense of time and place, and
expert plotting. This is an immersive tale that is balanced and deft, peppered
with dramatic moments that keep readers turning the pages.

There is a particular kind of silence that falls in the early hours — not the absence of sound, but the quiet rearrangement of the world before it begins again. A kettle sighs. The light finds its way through the window in thin, precise strokes. In that stilln...
