The writing is direct and action-oriented, prioritizing pacing over deep introspection. Dialogue is functional, often laden with military jargon that authenticates the setting but can feel expository at times. While characters like Romanov are portrayed as cold-war-style villains, the heroes are defenders of freedom. The characters are sophisticated yet genuinely flawed, and Jason Patrick's grief over his father makes him relatable. There is so much to enjoy in this fast-paced thriller, and I will pick up the action-packed scenes, the suspense and tension that build up with each passing moment, and the sense of urgency that is infused into the action from the moment of the abduction of Patel. This book for those who enjoy adrenaline-fueled thrillers.
