Tony Lucas is devastated after learning of
his wife’s terminal illness. In his desperation to find a cure for the
disease, he goes out to search for a lost magical key, which can give him
the power to predict the future and unravel mysteries of the times to come.
Tony is running out of time as his wife inches closer to death with the
disease levying a heavy toll on her body. It’s not easy to watch a
loved one slip out of your life so fast and Tony is determined to alter the
course of events in a way that he can save his wife from departing.
Chasing Time by Thomas Reilly is a tale about a
man on a mission of love and determination, facing numerous odds just to save
the love of his life. It highlights the miseries of a devoted husband on the
brink of losing his most valuable companion in life. The protagonist’s mission
to save his better half takes him through unexpected plot twists,
unraveling cryptic clues and interactions with memorable characters along the
way. All this time, Tony has to stay strong and endure so that he can achieve
the end goal of saving his wife from impending death.
Thomas Reilly has carried the novel with extreme poise
through the strong male lead that he has portrayed through Tony. He narrates a
heart-wrenching tale that captures the resilient spirit of the male
protagonist. Tony is a character that readers will keep their eyes on; a
determined man fighting an impossible battle. Themes of love, hope, and magic
are excellently written, and I enjoyed the way the author explores the inner
world of his characters, especially Tony. The narrative brings together
realistic medical elements with a hint of fantasy that takes readers all the
way from Ancient Rome to modern-day America and the olive orchards of Spain to
showcase the extent to which Tony is willing to go in order to save his wife.
The character development and attention to detail are perfectly executed.
Overall, Chasing Time is deft, balanced, and utterly enjoyable; it features
characters that are unforgettable, prose that is crisp, and a conflict that is
fueled by the time factor and that moves the story in unpredictable
directions.

There is a particular kind of silence that falls in the early hours — not the absence of sound, but the quiet rearrangement of the world before it begins again. A kettle sighs. The light finds its way through the window in thin, precise strokes. In that stilln...
