Getting to Forever is a finely plotted, cleverly written novel that will appeal to fans of romance and action thrillers. Eldana succeeds in creating characters that are nuanced and richly explored while moving the plot forward with deepening tension, desire, and deftly accomplished conflict. The plot is unpredictable and enriched by a strong conflict. The characters are deeply flawed and I particularly enjoyed the way Hack and Tink are imagined and sculpted. Amanda is another tough character who succeeds to bring out many qualities in Hack. The author excels at writing strong motivation into the characters — Amanda is focused on helping and bringing something extra into Hack's life, for instance. The writing is confident and the dialogues are beautifully crafted, offering windows through which readers peer into the inner worlds of the characters. Family, crime, love, passion, and desire are some of the themes that are explored in this captivating novel. It is a passionate blend of romance and action and the author skillfully dramatizes the complexities in the personalities of the key characters. Getting to Forever is a delightful read for anyone who enjoys a good plot and fine writing.
