Protagonist Kevin G. Harrigan is a geneticist/tough guy who has gone beyond current real technology of cloning chimps, sheep, etc.: He develops Fossil Gene Redemption [FGR] that uses non-mineralized DNA from egg and sperm (the term is meiotic DNA) to not only regenerate Ice Age animals, but also prehistoric humans & our cousin species. Modifying meiotic DNA means that future generations from the manipulated genome have traits regenerated from the past. This gives rise to regeneration of deceased ancestors and recreation of fauna extinct from the Ice Ages! More frightening is that the antagonist, Iraqi Leader Ismail Mon, steals and perverts FGR into a prototype 'genetic weapon of mass destruction'. Mon’s secret work can ruin enemy nations’ genomes (eliminating them or creating defenseless slaves) while improving/immunizing his allied nations. It can do even more (no spoiling that!). Gallagher has written a fiction that exposes real-life potential for “generational terrorism” or species modification. The science, action and intrigue are masterfully dramatized and made understandable. This novel is not risqué, but it is ONLY for adults and deep-thinking teens! Can Harrigan and his equally brilliant wife, Tykvah head off this frightening future, a warped version of the Resurrection, or will they be too late? Hint: A sequel is promised for next spring or summer.

Ancient of Genes by Dan Gallagher is a spellbinding meld of thriller, crime & mystery, science-fiction, and intrigue at a best, a story that contains well-researched information and interesting characters. The extent of the author’s research speaks volumes as the story makes it impossible to differentiate between reality and fiction. The story will make readers jump from excitement, surprises, and suspense. This book is a page-turner as we get to learn about the growth and development of the characters over the span of 16-17 years.

Feeling a deep, emotional connection with the protagonist and other characters is inevitable. But what’s even more compelling is the author’s storytelling skills and his ability to explain complex scientific ideas in a comprehensible manner. This will be an exceptional read for those who love sci-fi, adventure, and thrill with equally outstanding characters. From the real-world scientific research to the intriguing storyline, everything about this novel makes it a must-read. Fans of Robert Ludlum will adore Dan Gallagher’s superior storytelling craft, rich imagination, and fascinating world-building.
